Happy Thanksgiving, writers! Here at WriteByNight we read about 750,000 of your words per month. That's close to one and a half War and Peaces. Every month. It adds up
to 9 million words per year. Nine million words per month equals 108 million words per year;
over thirteen years, that comes to more than 1.4 billion words. One-point-four billion: 1,404,000,000! Y'all are prolific. And we're thankful for every single one of those 1.4 billion words. That's no lie. I've memorized them, and I just mentally reviewed each and every word. Yup, thankful! Care to
know what else I'm thankful for? I'm writing again! This week's question: When you stop working on a piece, how do you know whether to say "See ya later" or say a final goodbye? Have an answer? Reply to this message and I just may run it next time. Same goes if you have a burning question! Last week's question, with some responses below: From WriteByNighter Tim H.: "When does the second-guessing end? Some days I’m pumped up and ready to write, while other days I feel like I’m kidding myself to believe anyone would pay
to read my book. ... Do you have any insight into these kind of ups and downs?" WriteByNighter Barbara M. responds, "The second-guessing never ends. Instead of going to the negative, I go to the positive: 'I'm writing a book
that matters and those who need to read it will do so.'" Kevin W. says: "It really doesn't. When a piece pulls me along, I figure my inner editor knows what he's doing and I've got something. When I get
bored with a piece, maybe it's time to leave it alone... maybe forever." And Rebecca S. writes, "It can be tamed when it is confronted. ... Keep those published pieces visible, and those emails of even the briefest
praise. They remind us that we are capable." In this month of NaNo, get a beta read of your first (or any) 10 double-spaced pages & a 30-minute discussion with your reader for only $99! Ex-Boyfriend is now available in Kindle and paperback and tells the story of Dorothy Romano-Goodman, a recently widowed and going-broke mother who follows a business opportunity to Morocco. Stepping wayyyy out of her comfort zone, Dorothy manages, with the help of her local guide and driver, Ishmael -- along with the spirits of lost loved ones -- to shed some of the ugliness of her past and face a brighter
future. Adrienne wrote much of The Last Ex-Boyfriend in coaching and then engaged our editorial team for a proofread. And who is that, quoted on the back cover as labeling the book "lovely"? As the kids say: It
me. Born and raised here in New York City, and "a little obnoxious about it," Heather Gluck is one of our newest coaches, but already she's becoming a crowd favorite. Heather offered Tim H. "great points to improve my novel." Ani O. says, "I really loved the meeting ... Super helpful!" And Meghan E. calls Heather "such a
great match!" Visit Heather's website to learn more about her work, and check out her most recent publication,
"Moths" in Palette Poetry. Heather is eager to work with you on your nonfic, poetry, or your literary, historical, experimental, or mystery fiction. Reply to this message if you're interested in working with Heather.

What Am I Writing? What Am I Reading? I'm writing again, I'm writing again! Nothing much worth talking about yet, but I've scribbled about one-fourth a journal's worth of outline/notes on a novel, along with ~800 words of prose. Which is more than I've written since... well, let's just say there may have been fewer twos in the year. For reading, I finished Rosemary's Baby. I enjoyed it,
I suppose, but having seen the movie a few times, nothing had me on edge. I can see it being super creepy for its time, though. After that I reread key portions of Kevin Barry's Beatlebone, which, if you know me at all, you know is a book I'm at least mildly obsessed with. Now I'm on to Dana Spiotta's Stone Arabia, a novel I recommended to my fellow Yak Baby Aaron and figured I'd
revisit myself. What are you writing? What are you reading? Writerly Quote of the Week “Most of the basic material a writer works with is acquired before the age of fifteen.” ― Willa Cather Happy Thanksgiving! And happy writing! David Duhr Co-founder, WriteByNight
