Dear WriteByNighter,
Before we get going: If you've been awaiting an email from me,
please check your sp*m folder. We're having issues. If it's not there, hit me up again.
Thankfully most of our tech is in the hands of others. To wit:
You may remember that a few weeks ago I chose three volunteers to sample a guided AI world-building and editorial tool created by a friend of mine.
Well, the reviews came back positively glowing.
So… we’re gonna make it a thing!
Starting Monday, Nate St. Pierre, creator of the Talemaiker World Builder Assistant, will begin booking one-on-one sessions to help you:
- generate ideas for a new project
- generate fresh ideas for a stalled project
- expand your existing story, characters, and setting
- address specific concerns with your story, characters, and/or settings
I know we have mixed feelings about AI; some of us outright fear it. But Nate’s AI doesn’t do any writing. It’s just a tool to facilitate your own writing — not to mention a source of motivation, inspiration, and renewed excitement.
As Nate himself writes, “We’ll use AI not as a writing tool, but as a
brainstorming superpower to take us many places in a short time.”
I first shared my writing with Nate almost thirty years ago, long before AI was a thing, and I’ve found his feedback consistently thoughtful and useful. He's still one of my main readers. (Sorry 'bout that, Nate.)
Look at it like this: You and a developmental editor getting together to throw around ideas about plot, character, setting, and more. And that editor facilitates the discussion with a computer program he happens to have created.
