Dear writer,
We've got a lot to cover today, so strap yourselves in; or, to quote
Samuel L. Jackson's character in Jurassic Park, hold onto your butts.
That book came out 10 days before my 13th
birthday, but I didn't read it until two years later, during a family weekend trip to Madison, Wisconsin. We had one of those chain-motel suites, meaning that my parents had a bedroom and my sister and I shared the main room, one of us on the sofa, the other on a cot.
All I really remember is my sister complaining about how I kept the
light on all night, because I just couldn't put down that book. (If you're reading this... sorry 'bout that. And the snoring/farting.) The science was gobbledy-gook, but the story was a grabber.
What I couldn't have known, at the time, was that three decades later I would work with the man who had recently become Michael Crichton's
publicist.
WriteByNight is very excited to welcome Joe Marich!
Joe runs Marich Media, a media relations and marketing agency that teams with
writers and other creatives to help spread the word about their work. Joe has helped launch more than 800 books in his career and is always on the lookout for exciting new authors to represent.
Which is what brings him WriteByNight's way.
Exclusive to WriteByNight, Joe is offering a media consultation designed to help you gauge your book's "media friendliness" and identify which aspects of it
will make the best angles to highlight during your media outreach.
Joe will read the first 50 pages of your book and a synopsis of the rest and then meet with you for 60 minutes to discuss. He'll talk about reaching outlets such as newspapers and magazines, radio and TV shows, and more.
And if there's time, Joe will discuss book design, building a platform, arranging appearances, or anything else that's on your mind.
Bonnie M. was the WriteByNighter to dive in. After doing a media consultation with Joe,
Bonnie told me "I got good advice! Joe knows his stuff." She's now happily revising her book's opening pages and is eager to work with Joe again.
And if the stars align, after your media consultation Joe may even take you on as a client. It's cool enough to start a sentence with "My publicist," but imagine
saying "My publicist, who was also Michael Crichton's publicist..."!
Click the button below or simply reply to this email to express interest. Through the end of October, Joe's media consultation is only $450, with just 50% due up front. Jump on it while it lasts!
