Last week I
mentioned that I plan to take y'all up on your suggestion to add some video to these emails, so I indicated that I'll record myself answering any questions you want to send me, about writing or anything else. Send your Qs to the email above, or simply reply to this message. (I won't use your name.)
I also loved reading your responses to the bookstore prompt in that same email -- including some of you who even spent time at Renaissance! (Before the fire... Before the entire building came down.) Someone reminded me that Renaissance opened a store on the concourse at the Milwaukee airport. For an airport bookstore, it's top-notch.
Prompt for this week: Write about a brush with literary fame.
Have you ever met a literary titan? Or been involved in an interesting incident involving a writer, a publication, a literary organization, etc.? Write about it, and if you'd
like, send me the results.
This idea comes from a conversation with a friend where I recounted a dust-up with Larry McMurtry that almost cost me a job. Which then reminded me that there's an audio version of me retelling this story, along with the one where I inform George Saunders that he
has a big ol' piece... of toast.
That's about it for today. What will you do with all this extra time?
(Answer: Write!)
