Read this if you write about your family

Published: Tue, 12/23/14

Hi all,

Not too long ago, I got an email from a WriteByNighter who was struggling to write about her children. The memories are painful, she told me, so much so that when she tried to write she would just sit and cry.

“The words are there,” she wrote. “I’m just scared. I don’t want to hurt them again, but it’s very important to tell.”

This is a real issue for many of us, especially around the holidays when family presence is strong. How do we write about those close to us without reopening old wounds, both ours and theirs?

Find out over on our blog, and don't forget to weigh in with a comment!

Wishing you courage this holiday season,
Justine
