Do you need professional help (with your writing)?

"Writing is a solitary occupation. It's a bit like golf. It looks easy, but the actual doing can often seem next to impossible. And you have no team to back you up when you're off your game––just ask Tiger Woods. If you find yourself removing a word one day and putting it back in the next, or you're submitting everywhere with little or no feedback and no discernible results, it may be time to seek professional help.

"I'm not suggesting you need therapy (though it hasn't hurt me), but most artists–novice to expert–no matter the art form, seek feedback and advice from knowledgeable professionals to improve their work.

"One day while reading stories and clicking around on Carve Magazine's website (a gold mine of brilliant stories btw), I noticed they offered literary services. That roused my curiosity. An online search for similar services landed me at WriteByNight, a resource for writers and writing coaches. I wanted to know how these two enterprises approached the work of helping writers, and what results they've achieved."

Happy writing,
Justine
