On the blog this week, I spent 800 words on a post that would be 200 words if I kindly removed all of the dusty observations and god-awful wordplay. I sure don’t envy those poor blog readers.
One of the benefits of being a newsletter subscriber is that we save the good stuff for you. Often that means members-only content not available anywhere else. This week it means the Cliff’s Notes version of this week’s blog post:
While standing in line the other day to mail our [BLEEEEEEEP!!!!] quarterly taxes, I thought about how I am nowhere near to being a quarter of the way toward my 2016 writing goal. Shocker!
So, because I didn’t want to cry at the post office — even though I think we’re supposed to — I switched gears and started thinking about you. Are you making good progress toward your 2016 writing goals?
(And then I started actively hoping that you are. Could you feel it?)
One quarter of the way through 2016, are you one quarter of the way through that book you wanted to
write this year?
If you’re having trouble getting started, one quick ‘n’ easy thing you can do for inspiration is to hang a sign in your writing space that reads, “One year from now I’ll be grateful that I started my book
today.”
By making it sound like a foregone conclusion that you’ll get started today, it just may become one.
OK, that’s more than the promised 200 words. I just can’t help it. I’m compensating.
Be sure to let us
know in the comments if you’re kicking 2016’s bungus, and how hard.
