In 2017 you will...

Published: Fri, 12/30/16

Happy close of 2016, friends!

Seems that nearly everyone we talk to is limping into 2017, eager for this year to end.

That's why this weekend and into next week, we're asking only one thing of you.

Fill in the blank in the following sentence with your 2017 writing and/or reading goal(s):

"In 2017 I will _________"

Your answer can be one word or one million words, so long as it's about your literary hopes and dreams for the coming year.

(It can even be about how you don't want to set any hopes and dreams this year; we know that many of you try to avoid resolutions, and that's just fine with us.)

If you're feeling bold, leave your response in the comments section of this week's blog post. (And find the Easter egg!)

If you're feeling less bold, send us your answer by email and we'll keep it to ourselves.

If you're feeling 100% unbold, write out your answer in your diary and then lock it up.

Just as long as you write something.

And if you respond to someone else's 2017 goal with a word or two of support, then hey, you're even cooler than we already think you are. (Which is very cool.)

You can do that right now, in fact, over on our blog.

Later in 2017 we'll check back in to see how it's going with these goals and what we can do to help.

Not that we won't check in every week until then. This is, after all, our weekly message. Thank you for reading it throughout 2016.

And thank you in advance for reading it in 2017! Keeping in touch with you is one of our favorite things about WriteByNight.

Happy New Year,

P.S. If you know someone who might benefit from today's message, please feel free to forward this email along. Go on, help a writer out.

P.P.S. If you live in or around Austin and one of your goals is to attend more literary events, why not start on January 12 at Malvern Books, where our good pal Martin Barkley will read from his new book, The Lovesong of Smith Oliver Smith. A guaranteed good time.
