Some Holiday Thoughts & Cheers

Published: Fri, 12/23/16

Happy holiday weekend, writers!

We don't want to hassle y'all with lengthy, ruminative messages at year's end.

Actually, we don't want to hassle y'all with anything ever! Receiving these messages from us is voluntary. And so is working with us. That's why we're so honored that so many of you choose to do one or both.

And have for so long! Some of you who came to us for writing help in our first year of existence (2009!) are still with us, having followed us from Florida to Texas to New York City.

Those kinds of relationships are hard to come by. In fact, many of you have come to seem like family to us.

And what better time (other than Thanksgiving...) to appreciate family than the holiday season? So from us to you, thank you for your continued loyalty to WriteByNight. And for your friendship.

And thank you for your continued loyalty to your own writing: loyalty to your characters and stories, loyalty to your own hopes and dreams. We are constantly wowed by your creativity and talent.

This week's blog post is sort of a year-end brain dump complete with holiday quotes from writers, as well as talk about writing and reading resolutions, the best books of the year and more. A little airport reading.

But in case you don't have time, here are two of our favorite holiday quotes from writers.

The first is from Lenore Hershey, author of Between the Covers: “Do give books — religious or otherwise — for Christmas. They’re never fattening, seldom sinful, and permanently personal.”

The other is from Shakespeare: “Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast.”

We've enjoyed eating with you this year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah,

P.S. If you know someone who might benefit from today's message, please feel free to forward this email along. Go on, help a writer out.

P.P.S. If you haven't yet shared the first line of your WIP, you still have time! Lots of people are subscribed to comments, so you can still find some feedback. Do it here and do it now!
