Happy Saturday, writers!
So here's what I'm thinking: Let's resurrect the
long-dormant WBN Book Club, turn it into a short story club, and get super nerdy together once a month.
We read and discuss one short
story per month, typically of 5,000 words or fewer. (i.e., a one-sitting read.)
I publish on the blog a brief intro to the story, a link to it, and a few potential discussion
questions.
You read the story at your own pace and join the discussion whenever you're ready.
How does that sound?
If you're
in, you can leave a note in the comments section of the post just saying "In." Or reply to this message.
But since this will be a group endeavor, I'm also looking for input from y'all on
matters such as what kinds of stories we should read and whether we want to look at fiction only or scatter in some nonfiction.
I see this as a good opportunity to discuss some great literature, 'natch, but also to
figure out, together, as writers, what makes it so great and how we can learn from that.
And also to get super nerdy with other supernerds. That's the fun part.
