Writing Exercise: TALK!

Published: Sat, 06/24/17

Happy weekend, writers!

I want us to try a (hopefully) fun talking/writing exercise.

See, I'm working on a new project that involves conducting a series of interviews, and here's what I've learned so far: People love to talk about themselves!

No duh, right?

A few of us WriteByNighters lately have been discussing how some writers (me included) struggle at times to find ideas. But most of us write about people, and who better to get ideas about people from than... people?

So this is your task for this weekend or next week: Interview a person -- friend, family member, stranger on a bus -- and then write about it.

For details and ideas, and to leave your thoughts or results, visit this week's blog post: "Writing Exercise: TALK!"

Talk. Write. Let us know how it goes.

For those of you who missed it, our June Story Club entry is up and awaiting your feedback. Andrew Davis left a comment that included Red from Shawshank Redemption and Statler and Waldorf, those critical balcony-lurking Muppets.

Can you top that?

Cheers,
David
