Who Wants to Be the First WriteByNighter of the Week?

Published: Sat, 07/01/17

Happy holiday weekend, writers!

Every week I get emails asking if there's a way for you all to get to know each other and each other's writing.

My first idea was for us all to meet up once a year in Vegas and read aloud from our work, ideally beside a pool, with margaritas and pina coladas flowing. It could happen.

But until then, here's what I have in mind: Starting soon, this weekly message will include a section where we feature one of your fellow writers, someone from this group who's working on an interesting project and is ready to share some details, or even some words.

We'll call it the WriteByNighter of the Week.

(The WoW, for short. Obviously.)

It will include the WoWser's name, some info about his or her project, and, if applicable, a link to his or her website or some published work, and/or some contact info if you want to learn more.

Wouldn't that be a good start in getting to know one another?

Nominate yourself or a friend simply by replying to this message and telling me a bit about the project, and where I can go to learn more.

Next week I'll be busy with my annual July 4th reading of Johnny Tremain, my favorite childhood book. Those gulls out on their rocky Boston Harbor islands are about to wake.

If you could use some reading too, this week's blog post is an interview with Austin writer Joe Giordano, whose newest novel is called Appointment with ISIL.

Give it a look, and let us know in the comments if you have any questions for Joe.

Have a happy 4th,
David

P.S. If you know someone who might benefit from today's message, please feel free to forward this email along. Go on, help a writer out.

P.P.S. I assume you've been too busy interviewing people to leave comments on last week's post about interviewing people. Let us know how it went!
