New Contest! Famous Guest Judge!

Published: Tue, 10/31/17

Hi there, writers & TV watchers!

We have a real special treat for you this week: a WriteByNight writing contest with a guest judge who has 1.2 million rabid Twitter followers and who has a special stake in the prize -- a SIGNED copy of his own book.

Michael Ausiello, as many of you already know, is the founder and editor of TVLine.com. His "Ask Ausiello" column is legendary in TV journalism, and his memoir, Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies, A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Other Four-Letter Wordswas published to great acclaim last month by Simon & Schuster/Atria.

Since the book's release Mike has been on a whirlwind bicoastal tour of radio, TV, and in-store appearances, but he's taking time out of his busy schedule to read your work.

Why? Well, because he's a good dude. And because I was his writing coach for Spoiler Alert, which means that we met weekly for more than a year to talk about and bond over writing and storytelling.

(If you want to know what coaching is all about, read more here.)

So Mike has agreed to guest judge our latest Micro Fiction Challenge, which actually this time is a Micro Nonfiction Challenge, and a simple one at that.

Answer in 150 words or fewer: What is your favorite TV show (past or present) and why?

For full details and to enter, visit this week's blog post, "Micro (Non)Fiction Challenge: Your Favorite TV Show."

I know, I know: TV is the writer's enemy. Well, hey, if you feel that way, write about it! Don't be afraid to get creative with this contest.

And maybe this can all count toward your weekly writing goal? What is this week's writing goal? Our new goals/accountability post is live, so make sure to share those goals with us.

Lots of fun stuff a-happenin'! Don't miss out.

Enter the Micro (Non)Fiction Challenge today for a chance to have Michael Ausiello read your work!

Cheers,
David

P.S. If you know someone who might benefit from today's message, please feel free to forward this email along. Go on, help a writer out.

P.P.S. You may have heard that George Saunders won the Man Booker for Lincoln in the Bardo. But didja know that I got the chance to interview him a few years ago for the Dallas Morning News? Mostly we talked about Dan Fogelberg. 'Natch.
