Happy holiday weekend, writers!
You're probably stuck at an airport right now. You're anxious, frustrated, bored out of your mind. Sitting next to sick people, starting to feel sick yourself.
Holiday travel is a joy.
Just ask my sister, who today will be spending four to six bonus hours at the Austin airport. That is, if everything goes well!
She'll try to lose herself in a book or a movie, but the agitation might prevent her from being able to focus. We've all been there.
For a writer, though, being stuck at an airport can provide opportunities that other people (i.e., normal people) don't have.
In it, we offer three writing exercises you might try the next time you're stuck in airport hell, including one where you'll take a deep dive into the shopping madness.
(Who are these people who buy laptop computers at Best Buy vending machines?!)
Writing can be an excellent form of self-soothing, something we all need when we're stuck in travel hell. And you never know when a simple little writing exercise can lead to something much bigger.
After you read the post, help out a fellow writer by sharing in the comments your own tips & tricks for travel-delay creativity.
Together we can make it through!
If you celebrate Christmas, we hope you have a wonderful one. If you don't, we hope you have a wonderful free day off. Unless you have to work, in
which case we hope you're getting time and a half!
