A New Micro Fiction Challenge

Published: Sat, 02/03/18

Happy weekend, writers!

The very day after writing last week's note about the winter doldrums, I caught the flu. Ain't that a kick in the head? Which is what this particular flu often feels like.

So I don't have a discussion topic or a question for us this week; instead, I have a game.

Something to get your creative juices flowing if you're stuck in the winter writing doldrums too, or to give yourself a fun break if you've been killing it with your writing project(s).

So I put on my spelunking gear and made a journey into the darkest recesses of the back end of our website to once again bring you some of the most ridiculous fragments of sp*m caught by our stalwart sp*m filter.

Write a story using, as your opening line, one of five fragments, which include gems like "Florida has doled out roughly $1" and "I would rather follow fragrant China."

Enter as many times as you wish by leaving your story in the comments section of the post. Bonus points for using all five prompts. And I don't quite know what the exact prize is yet, but it will involve a book or books.

So, get to it! Go have fun! Enter the Micro Fiction Contest today!

Cheers,
David

P.S. If you know someone who might benefit from today's message, please feel free to forward this email along. Go on, help a writer out.

P.P.S. Last week we discussed the winter writing doldrums. And then I got sick. So be careful, is all I'm saying. I want to hear from you, but don't visit that post unless you're wearing your hat and gloves and a heavy coat.
