Happy Monday, WriteByNighters!
This week it's our pleasure to introduce you to our newest writing coach and consultant, Caro Clark. Caro lives in New Orleans, where she earned an MSW from Tulane after an MFA from the University of New Hampshire.
In the Q&A, Caro shares with us her answer to one of my favorite questions,
"What is your strangest writing experience?"
Caro, in essence, became involved with a fictional character of hers:
"One time I wrote a piece of fiction about a man from a remote seaside town who I gave the occupation of being a fisherman," she writes.
"Five years later, I met and dated that very person with that very name. In the story, he died at sea. In real life, we broke up."
It got me thinking about my strangest writing experience, which isn't all that different from Caro's: Twenty years ago I worked with a group of old men at a factory. Then I fictionalized them in a novel. Then I met the only two of them still living.
It was as if my fictional characters walked off the page and into my life.
Which is exactly what I want to know.
In the comments below the post or by replying to this message, tell me (and
your fellow WriteByNighters) about your strangest writing experience.
And please join us in welcoming Caro to the team!
