Hello WriteByNighters,
On this week's episode of the Yak Babies podcast, me and my pals discuss Stuart Dybek's The Coast of Chicago, a book two of us love immensely and the third of us just read for the first time.
In preparation for that conversation I reread, yet again, several selections from that book. I think I've read "Pet Milk" seven times this year, and it's only June.
It got me to thinking about why I reread books, and which ones pop up most often on my books-read list.
What are some books you read over and over, and why? What do you get out of rereading them? Do you find something new in them every time, or is it more about the comfort of familiarity?
Let us know in the comments of the post, or reach me directly by replying to this email.
And if any of the books on my list are particular favorites of yours, let's definitely discuss that. I'm always eager to talk about literature we love.
