Happy weekend, WriteByNighters!
Now let's talk about our fears.
In Beatlebone, a book I wrote about last week and just finished rereading for the third time, Kevin Barry writes, "Whatever it is that you're most scared of surfacing in your work, you can be sure that it's nearby."
Sit with that line for a minute, and think about it as a writer. What comes to mind? What are you most afraid will surface in your work?
And don't worry, I've gone first. In the post, I write about my own biggest fear as a writer: That my lack of confidence makes the reader question my authority.
So now it's your turn. Don't be shy! Use a pseudonym for your comment, if you'd like, but dig deep and be honest.
And if a fellow writer has shared a fear that you've defeated, why not let him/her know how you managed it?
And remember that many of our signature one-on-one services, coaching in particular, are designed to help you face and fight these fears.
Because, like Kevin Barry says, they're always nearby.
