Hello writers,
Those of you active on Twitter have probably been following the #ShareYourRejection hashtag, where all kinds of writers are sharing all kinds of anecdotes about their work being rejected.
Some of these tales have happy endings, mostly about books being rejected sixty-seven times or so before finding a publisher.
Others are not so inspirational, writers whose work was rejected so many times that they just gave up.
Some of the stories are funny, some are horrifying, some just plain weird. Many are written in utter bemusement. Which, hey, I can understand. It's such an odd process.
Frustration seems the most common feeling attached. And that's no surprise either. It seems that a trending hashtag suddenly allowed writers to open up and spill their guts.
As I'm sure
you can imagine, reading all of these stories made me wonder about your experiences. That's why this week's blog post is titled "Share Your Rejection."
It's pretty simple: Stop by and share with us your anecdotes about rejection, be they inspirational, funny, horrifying, or a mix of all of those things and more.
Use a pseudonym if you're shy. I know this can be traumatic stuff, and difficult to talk about.
And with that in mind, why not read someone else's story about rejection while you're there and give him/her a boost. Writing is lonely, and we're all competing for the same shelf space, but in a weird way, we're also all in this together.
