Hello, writers,
In last week's post we chatted with some self-published WriteByNighters to learn about the most difficult parts of self-publishing their books.
Marcia Drut-Davis, author of Confessions of a Childfree Woman, provides a list of things that make her "do a happy dance," including the simple (but not so simple) fact of seeing her book in print.
Assaf Raz, author of Rite of Passage, says that self-publishing affords the opportunity "to expose my work, unhindered by any gate-keepers."
Dana Frank, author of The Moon Can Tell, calls self-publishing "an emotional and practical fulfillment" available to writers now "like never before."
And Dan Hays remembers the moment his first book was published and he could say "I am a published author" for the first time. "That short sentence took me a long time to absorb," he tells us.
Do you have experience with self-publishing? What was the most rewarding part for you?
