Hi WriteByNighters,
February. Just, ugh.
The good news is, it's almost over. And because it's clear that many of us are suffering from the ol' winter writing doldrums, this week we're throwing a fun writing contest designed to get you creating some low-pressure words.
And the deadline is this Friday, March 1. MARCH! It's so close!
But here's the gist: On this week's episode of Yak Babies we talk about movies based on books--when do they work, when do they fail, and why, plus some examples of the good and the ugly.
So your writing exercise is: In 150 words or fewer, write about a time you were pleasantly surprised by a film/TV adaptation of a favorite book, and/or a time you were disappointed by a film/TV adaptation of a favorite book.
Or enter twice if you'd like; once for pleasantly surprised, once for disappointed.
Write your response in the comments at the bottom of the post. And get your entry in by noon (Eastern) Friday.
And that's it! I'll pick a winner, and that winner will receive from WriteByNight a free book of his or her choice, one that hopefully will help get him/her through the rest of the winter.
Happy writing!
