Hey WriteByNighters!
Let's take a well-deserved week off from all of the serious discussions we've been having lately and talk about something light and fun: the idea of inserting ourselves into a favorite book.
- If you could become a character from any work of fiction and live his or her life, who would you choose, and why?
- And/or if you could insert yourself, as yourself, into a novel or short story and inhabit that world (earthbound or not), what novel/story would you choose and why?
My first answer won't surprise you, if you know me at all: My character would be Johnny Tremain.
But my fictitious world? Well, it might also be Johnny Tremain. As a kid I was fascinated with 1770s Boston, and I'd love to get a peek at what it was like. (Even if Esther Forbes took some liberties...)
But another world pulls at me just as strongly, if not more: that wonderful world of witchcraft and wizardry, the Harry Potter series.
