Hi writers,
It's a special mid-week bonus message from your pals at WriteByNight! What's the occasion? Well, we've got several of 'em.
In case you missed our last message, today is WriteByNight's 10th birthday!
And in this blog post, we chart our path from a tiny little ten-seat writing workshop in Florida to being named Austin's best writing resource to what we are today, which is... well, thankful to all of you wonderful
writers who've been brave enough to share your words with us.
Many of which have recently been published! And we think our birthday is an excellent time to tip our caps to a few WriteByNighters who have brought new books into the world, helped along by our wonderful staff of coaches and consultants.
Starting with Carmen Petro and his series of children's books, "Girls Can Do Anything," the first three of which are now available: Gone Fishing, Shooting Stars, and Carpenters and
Catapults. Nick was Carmen's book coach, and he worked with Adriana Cloud on proofreading.
Bunny Leach published her memoir/self-help debut, Letting Nicki
Go (blurbed by Debbie Macomber!), and a follow-up, Breathing New Life, both about her process of grief and recovery after the death of her 19-year-old daughter. At WBN Bunny worked with Justine, Adriana, Cecily Sailer, and Bridget Apfeld.
The Third Door is Jim Williams' gripping debut novel about an Austin drug dealer trying desperately to escape the life. Jim
has worked with WBN's Lydia Conklin, Jessamine Chan, and Bridget Apfeld, as well as with Justine and David.
Paul Liebow's most recent poetry collection, Auroras Over Acadia, is now available. The book shows "a remarkable breadth
of style," says author Maren C. Tirabassi. Paul and Nick worked together throughout the writing and editing process.
And we're very pleased to say that Ted Sheppard's The Why of War: An Unorthodox Soldier's Memoirs has made the longlist for the 2019 JOURNEY Book
Award for Narrative Nonfiction. Ted worked with WBN's Caro Clark on a critique and Brad Tyer on a proofread.
Y'all are some talented, creative, and prolific mofos. Congratulations!
And the same goes to all of you who are hard at work on your own next book. Or simply working hard to make yourselves better writers. You're a constant source of inspiration for us.
And a sincere, from-the-bottom-of-our-hearts thank you for accompanying us on this now-decade-long journey. We quite literally couldn't have done it without you.
