Happy weekend, WriteByNighters,
Sometimes when I'm in need of some extra creative juice, I'll go searching for inspirational writing quotes. You know the kind: "A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit"; "You can't edit a blank page," etc.
Today I was goofing around on a writing quotes website and came across one from David Mamet. I've already forgotten what it was, mostly because I imagined what it would look like if Mamet were replaced by Duhr.
If I ever become a famous writer and I'm included on a list of inspirational writing quotes, what would I want my quote to be?
Imagine yourself on one such list. What would your quote be about, do you think? What of your words of wisdom would most benefit a struggling writer?
Maybe it comes from something unique about your approach. Maybe it's in the way you get yourself into the mood to write, or the way you keep yourself writing even when the mood passes.
Or maybe it's something about writing's place in your life, or the way you'd feel if it were taken away from you.
Regardless of where they come from and what they're about, make a list of all the possible options that come to mind. Then choose a favorite. Then tell us about it.
And read your fellow WriteByNighters' words of wisdom; maybe they'll work on you! Upvote your favorites.
I'd also be curious to know what famous writerly words of wisdom you lean on when you need a boost.
