Last week we talked about our 2020 writing goals, and, no surprise, many of you simply (or perhaps not so simply) want to write more this year than you did last year.
Well, how about starting with a fun fifty-word exercise?
In fifty words or fewer, write a story or a scene containing the following keyphrase, drawn from Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale: "A sad tale's best for winter."
Be sad, if you'd like. Be dark. Or be darkly funny. Or just funny. Or funny and sad. And dark.
Or be all of those things several times over. Remember, you can enter as many times as you wish.
The winning story will earn its writer his/her choice of a book from the WBN library, which has really been racking up some great titles since our last contest in October.
You have until end-of-day Sunday the 12th to submit your stories, which should be done in the comments section of the post.
Happy writing, friends! Or sad writing, if you go that way. The operative word is "writing." Hopefully this little contest will get you in the creative zone and lead to bigger and better things.
