Hi writers,
There's a moment early in Chapter 2 of Under the Volcano where Yvonne asks her husband, the Consul, why he never responded to any of the letters she wrote him during their year of estrangement.
"I wrote you and wrote you," she says. "I wrote till my heart broke."
I'm rereading Volcano now, and when I got to that line, my first thought was, "Ugh, Yvonne. I feel you."
My second thought was, "What an excellent line for our next Micro Fiction Contest."
Because it makes me think of the ways in which so many of you pour your hearts onto the page day after day.
And of how some of you wish you could pour your hearts on the page, but you're having trouble finding inspiration or ideas, and/or struggling through a block.
In fifty words or fewer, write a scene or a story, or even a moment from your own life (these don't have to be fiction) that includes the phrase "I wrote till my heart broke."
Enter as many times as you wish. Write or copy/paste your entry/entries into the comments at the bottom of the post.
The winner or winners win free books from the WBN library!
We'll take entries until end of day Tuesday, February 25.
Good luck! Write till your hearts break.
