Dear WriteByNighters,
Another day, another twenty-four hours indoors. I stand by the window and pretend I can feel the sun on my face; I open the window and pretend I'm outside in the fresh air, rather than sucking at it desperately from the staleness of this room.
And I continue to not write.
How about you? Is COVID-19 and this stay-at-home reality knocking you out of your writing routine? Have you found new and different ways to be creative, or are the old ways still working?
I'm also wondering, how -- if at all -- will this situation change you as a writer? Or as a person?
I asked a few WriteByNighters these questions, before opening it up to the group. You can find the answers in the posts, but here's a sample:
On creativity:
"I’ve doubled down on my routine because it feels like one of the only things I can control." -- Tom Andes, WBN coach/consultant
"Doing anything creative has been really difficult ... I’m trying not to beat myself up about it." -- Adriana Cloud, WBN coach/consultant
On changing as a writer and/or a person:
"I hope this makes me less timid as a writer and more generous as a person." -- Cecily Sailer, WBN coach/consultant
"As far as changing as a writer; it’s up in the air if I am even going to be a writer again. We will see." -- David Lemke
"I will more closely resemble Grimace from McDonald’s." -- Aaron Block, host of Yak Babies
Me too, Aaron. Me too.
