Dear writers,
So many of you have expressed frustration at being stifled creatively these past six weeks or so.
I've felt it. Even on the rare days I'm able to write, I'm not at the top of my game. If I were, I wouldn't write anything like "at the top of my game."
It feels like there's never been a time when so many WriteByNighters have needed any reason to write anything. So in this week's post I wanted to offer something generative, and Kurt Vonnegut has given me a perfect prompt.
In Slaughterhouse-Five, Billy Pilgrim envisions the following epitaph for his tombstone, a picture of which Vonnegut draws for us: "Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt."
In one hundred (100) words or fewer, write a story -- or a moment from your own life; these don't necessarily have to be fiction -- that contains the phrase "Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt."
Enter as many times as you wish! This isn't the time to put any kind of cap on creative output.
The deadline is end-of-day Sunday, May 10, and the prize is, as usual, a book of your choice from the WBN library.
Good luck! I hope this contest gets you back on track.
