Hello, writers,
According to a recent study, 87% of Americans have been having strange, unpleasant dreams since the Coronavirus came along and created all this uncertainty for so many people.
But as writers, are bad dreams such a bad thing?
Frankenstein came from a dream; so did Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. And so have hundreds of other books and stories.
This week on the blog I want to talk about the connection between dreams and writing -- especially (if relevant to you) during the ongoing Coronavirus situation -- in a post titled "RATS! Dreams & Writing & COVID-19."
Have you been having strange dreams lately? Do your dreams ever lead to new writing, or even appear in your writing? Let's talk about it in the comments.
And I also want to offer an exercise: Write a fictional scene about the most vivid and/or bizarre (and/or scary!) dream you've ever had.
What are my bad dreams about? Aww, thanks for asking. Most of them revolve around mice and rats.
And so does Chapter 1 of my novel.
This is not an accident.
Now I want to hear from you. Let's talk about your dreams and the ways in which they affect your writing.
