Happy weekend, writers!
I don't feel like writing today. Do you? No? Must be something in the air.
The thing is, I haven't worked on my book, or anything else, since October. I've gone more than 100 days without writing!
Unless I've missed it, there's never been a piece of advice that goes Write every day... except for more than 100 consecutive days from mid-October through the end of January.
Does that mean I'm no longer a writer? A writer writes every day, we're told. Put another way: If you don't write every day, you're not a writer.
I want to push against that a little bit, and I try to do so in this week's post, "Confessions of a Lapsed Writer." But it's been so long since I've written anything, I'm not sure I'm getting my message across.
Thankfully, these posts aren't about me, they're about you!
So here's what I want us to talk about: Are there days you don't want to write? Do you feel compelled to do it anyway?
Do you feel guilty when you don't write? What other kinds of pressure do you put on yourself?
Does a writer write every day? If you don't write every day, are you not a writer?
