Hi WriteByNighters,
Sometimes when I'm struggling to write I'll scan the words I've looked up recently to see if anything sparks. It seems like a lot of us are struggling to write these days, so this week on the blog I want to share an exercise.
In the comments of the post "Prompt: Your Last 10 Words," I'd like you to write a story using the last five to ten words you've looked up in the dictionary.
If you use an app or browser, you should be able to see your search history; if you use an actual dictionary, try to work from memory. If you can't, feel free to use mine, which I list in the post.
Among them: gunite, patently, auscultation, and littoral. Out of that, without any forethought or planning, came a story about a car accident between L.A. and Vegas.
What will come out of yours? Let's see the results in the comments. Bold your dictionary words. And if you have an extra minute, let us know why you looked up each word.
