The Year in Review

Published: Sat, 12/28/13

It's hard to believe it's almost 2014 already. Time sure does fly. At the end of the year, we always like to do some evaluating, thinking on where we've been and where we're headed. The thing is, in our line of work--helping writers like you accomplish your goals--it doesn't much matter what *we've* accomplished but rather, what *you've* accomplished. And boy, have you accomplished a lot.

Seriously, it's just mind-boggling what you folks are able to do when you put your minds to it. I wish I could fully describe the feeling we get when a writer we've worked with reports a success. Joy, pride, fulfillment--that's part of it, sure, but these words don't quite do the feeling justice. Suffice it to say, it's magic.

When a client emailed to tell us that she had finally, *finally*, found an agent to represent the YA novel she'd worked on in book coaching, magic.

When a client called to report the look on her family members' faces when she presented them with the story of her life we had encouraged her to write, helped develop, and massaged to completion, magic.

When our very first client ever--yes, ever--shared with us that her self-published memoir is a consistent top-seller on Amazon, magic.

When our clients were accepted to J-School and MFA programs; when their articles and short stories were published in magazines, newspapers, and literary journals; when they entered writing contests and won; when they completed a piece of writing for the first time in their lives and realized that, yes, it can be done . . . you guessed it, magic.

What we're saying is, you guys are amazing. To those of you we've worked with, we're incredibly grateful for the opportunity. To those of you we have yet to work with, we can't wait to help. Here's to a happy, healthy, and productive 2014!

Catch you in the new year,
Justine
